What To Do When Your Kid's Won't Let You In

Everyday kids are put in situations some they are able to handle and others they are not ready to handle. As parents we try to be there for our children but what do you do when they don't let you into their world. I try talking to my children everyday to see what is going on in their lives and at times I notice that they are hesitant to open up so instead of hounding them about what is wrong I switch it to why it is important to share their feelings with a loved one. Example: I had a friend whose daughter was sneaking around with boys but nobody knew who these boys were or where they lived so when I spoke to her I didn't yell or force her for answers I simply told her that "we all loved her and wanted what is best for her and that if one of those boys ever did anything to hurt her we need to know who to go after" and she was like I never thought about that. See they want to be grow ups but they don't think of the total situation they only think about getting what they want when they want it and part of being an adult is having to take other peoples feelings into consideration, understanding that your actions do affect others, and last but not least learning responsibility. I pray that we as parents can continue to form a bond with our children so that they feel comfortable telling us whatever they may be going through, and I pray that our children learn to stop treating us like outsiders because it would make their lives a little easier if they understand all we want is what is best for them.

SunShyne's Morning Thought

I was sitting here eating breakfast (coffee, cinnamon roll, & an orange) while paying some bills online...yea gotta love that...lol. Anyways, I turned the TV to the news and over heard them saying that the were looking to spend millions to buy ipads for every student though out 53 schools so that the children can have access to the world from there classrooms. I am confused on whether I support this decision as a parent. On one hand providing children the world at there  hands can open their minds to the many possibilities of life that they wouldn't normally get to see (unless their families could afford to vacation every year...lol). Technology is amazing when put in the right hands but can also be dangerous in the wrong hands. Not to long ago it was brought to my attention that a man hacked the Emergency Broadcast System which is unbelievable but we do have people that will sit back and try to find a way to cause harm to others by hacking into the system someway somehow. Our children have to grow up at such a fast pace I see 2 year olds that know how to work a Kindle, Ipad, Iphone, etc. it's amazing to see the changes and no matter if your ready or not you have to go along with it or you will be left behind. Technology has completely taken over. If you go to fill out a job application they tell you, you gotta go online (so for those of you that don't have access to a  computer at or can't get done with your daily task before the library closes."Sorry there is nothing we can do" is basically what they will tell you.), Post Offices are closing & not delivering on the weekends because of email, text, & chat and if you call a business you will get Betty or Michael the automated voice that has replaced Tonya and Carl the real people who actually have bills to pay, only to be told "Sorry I didn't get that. Can you repeat that again?" over 10 times by Betty & Michael before you get so pissed you hangup! As much as I would love to keep going I have to start getting ready for work...lol yea my days are always full so sometimes it's hard for me to get on here everyday & share my thought but it don't mean that I forgot about "My Loyal Readers" Thanks for sticking with me.....until next time!

p.s. feel free to share your thoughts with me,

Love always SunShyne B.

Keeping Your " Life Resume" Updated

It is always good to keep yourself educated about different things.

Try to learn a variety of things so you can broaden your options in life. Everything you learn should get you one step ahead of the game. A person who has knowledge and a great work ethic is unstoppable.

Reading books will help increase and your vocabulary.

Trust me there is nothing worst than standing in the middle of a conversation and not knowing what the conversation is about, while trying really hard not to look confused.

A fun way to add adventure to your life is taking classes to enhance your knowledge whether it be ballroom dancing, art, writing, karate, music, computer it's solely you to you.

If you decide to volunteer in your spare time that would be great, maybe you could read to kids

Keeping Your Kid's Age Appropriate

Questions parent may have when trying to keep their children age appropriate.

When is your child too old to play with toys?

What dances should a child 8-11 be allowed to do?

What is a good age to start letting your child have sleepovers?

What age should you allow your child to start doing chores?

What age should you teach your child how to cook?

What age should you allow your child to start dating?

What age do you start letting your kids venture out with their friends?

When do you start your child on a curfew?

What age should a child be when they get a cellphone?

What age should your child be allowed to go on social media sites?

There are so many more questions to ask when it comes to parenting.
The list goes on and on because when you become a parent it's a responsibility that no one is ever prepared for. Just remember to install a good foundation for your children by teaching them about respect, trust, family, love, self-control, and last but not least teach you children how to pray! -

Nightly Thought

I am sitting here watching a Documentary called "Benji" it is the story of  a Chicago high school basketball phenom named Benjamin Wilson. In the mid 80's he was the #1 Basketball Player in the country but his life was cut short due to gun violence. He was shot twice while walking his girlfriend which was also the mother of his child to the bus stop.

I am so touched by this story because he was doing everything to stay on the right path and to have a positive future, yet his life was taken in such a violent way. Despite his mother's efforts to reach out to the community to enforce tougher hand gun laws; the streets of Chicago are still very dangerous and still claiming the lives of our youth. Gun Violence is something that impact all cities in America on a daily basis. I am not sure if there will ever be an end to our kids killing each other because a lot of children are raised with negative influences in their lives.

This Documentary is available on Netflix and if you don't have Netflix you can look it up on the Internet. Just type the story of Benji Wilson.
